Teaching Controversial Topics
We live in multicultural contexts in which debates about values proliferate, sometimes configured in polarized positions that make dialogue and serene discussion very difficult. This reality has generated an argument about the rules of the conversation about values, especially when it activates emotional involvement. If this is a challenge for society in general, in educational environments it is urgent to consolidate good practices to guide a kind of exchange in the classroom that, at the same time, can offer deep sensible reasons about the topic and facilitate the positive participation of all.
